Gazprom Neft eyes Neptune field development with partner

MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- Russian oil company Gazprom Neft plans to develop the Neptune field on the continental shelf of the Sea of Okhotsk only with a partner, Deputy CEO for Finance and Economy Alexei Yankevich said in a conference call on Wednesday.

“We don’t plan to go there alone, we will do it with a partner, as it would allow us to share the risks and, possibly, to acquire technological synergy,” he said.

Development of large oil reserves on the shelf needs serious financial investment. “We are moving very slowly from the point of view of shelf development. First, we start with the reserves that we understand, it includes the shelf zone near the Prirazlomnoye (field)…and the discovery at the Ayashsky (license site, the Neptune field),” he said.

In October 2017, Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov said that production of hydrocarbons at the Neptune field may amount to 5–6 million tonnes per year, and that the company plans to launch the field in 2025.
